Sandie Lane-Dixon
On 21st August 2021, one of our Trustees and friends, Sandie Lane-Dixon passed away after a short period of illness. She became a trustee in October 2019, and had a strong presence within the charity.
She will be missed by all of us, and fondly remembered.
"We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Thessalonians 1 v3)
Our chairman, Mike Pidd, and Project Manager, Leslie Mann shared how they will remember Sandie:
Mike Pidd:
I’d known Sandie and her family for many years at St Thomas’s Church, where she’d served as a House Group leader and Church Warden. When we started Acts 435 at the Olive Branch in 2017, I was delighted when she started to work with me. I did the easy bit, deciding who to fund and then writing a short description on the Acts 435 website. Sandie did the hard part: working with the recipient to get whatever was needed, and this was rarely straightforward. When she said she’d like to become a trustee I was delighted. She joined us in October 2019 and all too soon she was gone. I’ll miss her calm, level-headed advice and her experience as a head teacher in supervising others. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sim and the family, who will miss her even more than we do.
Leslie Mann:
I will remember Sandie for her kindness and her wisdom. Virtues that each magnified the other. She cared about doing things well and above all she cared about people. She did not rush to be the first to be heard, but it was often her well considered opinions and contributions that remained with me longest afterward. Sandie was a lady of strong principles and when these were at stake, she could be a force to be reckoned with! She will be missed.
