A successful shopping trip!
On Saturday 27th November a team of our volunteers were at Lancaster Asda for the day, talking to shoppers about our work and collecting donations.
It’s been a while since we’ve been able to do an Asda collection, but we were warmly welcomed back by people’s generosity! It’s been a difficult few weeks for our stock levels - as it always is in winter - but the collection has come at the perfect time to give our stocks a crucial lift.
Perhaps more significant for our team though, were some of the heartwarming and encouraging interactions they had…
‘One man came up to us and said how important what we do is… he had relied on The Olive Branch a few years ago and has now moved on in life.’
‘A woman came up with half a trolley full of things for us, saying she was so grateful for the help we’d given her a few years ago. She wouldn’t give her name… It makes it all even more worthwhile.’
‘A man gave us £5 and then returned with £10 saying he normally gives much more through his church, but he has been out of a job for a while. He has managed to get a new one which starts on Monday. It was so moving to see folk with very little give so much.’
Keep an eye on our social media for news of when we’ll be back!
